Wednesday 27th June | 7:00 pm

LOVE IS DEAD: MATERNAL FEEDING PARTY / UNCLE TESCO / LEGSS & MORE

Entry - £3 OTD

Love Is Dead is back with their latest club night hosted by Amersham Arms - featuring the best up and coming bands & DJ’s in South London. The Bands:

Maternal Feeding Party (EP Launch) are the Camberwellian fetish-mongering basement dwellers your fat uncle told you to listen to.

Uncle Tesco are not the previously-stated 'fat uncle' listening to MFP. No, these lot are distant relatives of multi-oligarch-turned-uncle Dave Lewis, and they have a penchant for reduced ploughman's.

Legss FKA Self Help (legsssssssssssss) know no reason why no new group or known artiste has the decorum to write music in the style, metre or humour of the late Theo Marzials.

PVA find their instruments in a circular, copper skip near the Acheron river; Bo Diddley meets Charon and the consequences are devastating.

Frogger's sound is so furiously contemporary, that the only adjective in modern use capable of competently describing them is 'post'. In a way, Frogger are 'post-post'.

Venus are from Mars.

Henry White performs new, unseen, unheard but definitely well-smelt material.

Using performance, writing, facilitation to create/enable activism, advocacy and authorship her work is always visual, playful and cosmic. Delving headfirst into questions, stories and myths that illuminate the beauty of life itself – of what connects us all as living, breathing human beings on Earth. She focuses her work on empowering the space of ‘Otherness’, the space of the radical, the space of the ‘ones who do not, and will not fit/assimilate’, thus destroying the walls of structural racial, class and gender violence both in the classroom and on the stage. She does this with Love, Energy and Protest.

LEAH THORN

Leah is a spoken word poet, who works in collaboration with film-makers, dancers and musicians. At the heart of her poetry is the autobiographical exploration of identity and of issues of liberation. KATE FOLEY

Award-winning poet, Kate Foley, will be reading from her 10th collection, A Gift of Rivers, published in April by Arachne Press. It was made from meeting, migration and marriage: poems reflecting the journey of one poet and her wife, across linguistic and geographical boundaries – and, with Brexit in the offing, it's far from over yet. Her working life as a nurse, midwife, teacher and archaeological conservator meant that she didn’t consider being published until she retired from her last day job as Head of  English Heritage’s Ancient Monuments Laboratory. Since her first collection, Soft Engineering, was published, she has read in many London, other UK and European locations.
